Hour or Two

Train to be a town tour guide

Training will be carried out by our current volunteer tour guides over many months until you feel confident to lead your own group of visitors.  You will learn about the north end of Olney, the south end of our town, and may also be interested in learning the 'Walk to Cowper's Alcove' tour across the fields to his alcove in Weston Underwood.  Our tours are very popular and we need to grow a larger pool of volunteers.  You will be helping to raise much needed funds for the Cowper and Newton Museum's upkeep.

What's involved?

  • Training by our volunteer tour guides over many months
  • Research and studying at home to learn the stories and historical facts
  • Shadowing our tour guides as they lead our visitors
  • Ongoing learning as more historical facts come to light
  • To receive bookings for tours from the House Manager

Why get involved?

This would suit anyone with enthusiasm for history who has a passion to pass on the historical facts to the community.  Learning and training will be ongoing as all the tour guides share their information with each other.
